Outdoor Concrete Takes the Worst Beating of All
A garage slab lives indoors. Your pool deck and patio face UV all summer, pollen in April, freeze-thaw cycles in January, chlorine splash-out, iron staining from irrigation water and standing water after every storm. Bare or stamped concrete responds by fading, spalling and growing a slick film of algae in the shady corners.
An outdoor coating system solves all of that at once: it seals the surface against water intrusion, adds engineered texture for traction, and stays color-fast in direct sun. Slip Resistance That Works When Wet
Traction is the whole point around a pool. We build texture into the system rather than relying on the coating's own finish, using a broadcast quartz or fine aggregate followed by a topcoat, so the grip does not wash away in year two. The texture level is tunable — heavier around pool coping and steps, milder on a covered porch where bare feet and furniture legs matter more.
UV Stability: No Yellowing, No Chalking
This is where standard epoxy fails outdoors. Aromatic epoxy ambers and chalks in direct sun within a single season. We use aliphatic polyaspartic topcoats, which are UV-stable by chemistry, so a light gray deck stays light gray instead of drifting yellow-brown.
Cooler Underfoot
Dark, dense concrete stores heat. Lighter cool-toned finishes reflect more solar energy and measurably reduce surface temperature on a July afternoon, which is the difference between kids running across the deck and kids hopping across it. Repair Comes First
Outdoor slabs almost always need work before coating: spalled edges rebuilt, control joints cleaned and re-sealed, low spots that pond water addressed, and any efflorescence removed. Maintenance Is Almost Nothing
Blow off the pollen, rinse it down, and mop the covered sections occasionally. No annual sealing, no re-staining, no pressure washing that erodes the surface. When the topcoat eventually dulls after many seasons of sun, a single re-coat restores it.
